A Blot On The Landscape or a Necessary Invention?

I went to the job centre today and decided to drive the back roads home. On my travels, I spotted these wind turbines and wondered ~ Are they a blot on the landscape or a necessary invention?

Years ago, I'm guessing people were saying exactly the same thing about telegraph poles as we do these, but look at us now. On landscape photos the poles are 'just there'. How many of us really notice them when we're out and about? I know I've grown up with them always being there and take no more notice of them than I do of houses and trees.

So, my initial question:

A blot on the landscape or a necessary invention? ~ My reply would be - necessary invention. What would yours be?
